This is part two to Amber and Brett’s wedding engagement session. You can see the first one here. As you can see I wanted to do something different and decided to photograph this session at a private airport, Windy City Flyers. We had an exclusive tour of this massive land. We all walked in there bug-eyed because it was just beyond amazing. How often is it that you get to tour and be that up close with an airplane??? We got to meet with the owner Dean (actually I didn’t know at the time he was the owner till some time later, hahah)airport. Super nice guy. Was more than willing to help us with the shoot. We were told we had people from different towers w/ binoculars peeping at us during this shoot. It was quite hysterical because the next building to us was about half a mile away. Haha. Thank you all, especially Dean and Liz for allowing us this rare opportunity to shoot at this airport. You all were so wonderful. I can’t wait to shoot with you all again very soon. I was told that they wanted me to take aerial pictures of the city skyline!!! I am beyond excited! Amber was right next to me when I got that call. Saaaaaaaweeet!!!!!!!

Background
Melissa Diep was born in Saigon, Vietnam. Her family fled their homeland shortly after the United States pulled out of the Vietnam War, and Saigon fell to the communist North. Often referred to as "Boat People," her family spent 10 days at sea on a tiny, cramped fishing boat until they reached a refugee camp in Thailand. They spent a year and a half in the over crowded camp, which lacked many basic necessities such as running water, while awaiting sponsorship to the United States. In 1980, a Jewish family from Skokie, Illinois, answered their prayers. Melissa has been a resident of Chicago ever since. Her family's journey has shaped who she is today.
Photography Style
Much of Melissa's style sense is influenced by her fresh, creative perspective and passion for capturing extraordinary moments. Employing a photojournalistic approach, the result is photos with stunning visual impact, that are natural and unscripted. This dramatic storytelling ensures the moments and memories of each event are forever treasured and preserved.
