So last year I attended Skip’s Summer School last August 2009. I can’t belive the amount of information I took home from this amazing seminar. It blew my mind. While I was there, I was standing next to Scott Bourne chatting with him right in front of Dane Sander’s booth. He casually asked me if I owned a copy of Dane’s Fast Track Photographer book. I replied no. He then shouted over to Dane that he’s buying me a copy of his book and two more copies to the next two people in line. I was so stunned and shocked I started tearing up!! Dane then walked over, signed the book (this part I didn’t remember) and gave me a hug. In fact, we all hugged. Hahaha. Let’s fast forward to today, Ted Suss from Neil Enterprise asked me to lend him a copy of the book since it’s sold out. Now I have to shamelessly admit, I haven’t gotten around to reading it nor did I got a chance to read what Dane wrote to me. Come on! I was in a state of shock when Scott bought me the book!!! I completely forgot he wrote on the book till my friend Danny Mendoza reminded me of it just last week at a Chicago Fast Track meeting. Well I opened the front cover of the book today and it read, “Melissa, Scott loves you. Dane” Needless to say, my heart swelled.
Spring is around the corner. Though we just wrapped up the Winter Trash the Dress and have the Vegas Trash the Dress at WPPI in three weeks, I’ve been getting a lot of emails about when’s the Spring TTD. I’ve already order three new beautiful wedding dresses for the Spring TTD. Here are some dates I’ve selected. Please vote by commenting on this blog entry. Obviously the date with the most votes will be the selected date.

Any of the three dates work for me!
This evening’s event actually started out a day early when I got the date mixed up. How in the world did my doofus self did that? Who knows?!?!? I got all dolled up, my girlfriend Tran Nguyen, co-owner of The Nail Lounge Salon and Spa, spent hours doing my hair and make-up, drove all the way downtown to the McCormick Place where the Chicago Auto Show was held, parked our car and was going up to the convention center is when I handed Giant the tickets. Mind you when the tickets got mailed to us, neither one of us checked on the tickets. As we were going up the escalator is when Giant says to me, “Ummm…babe? What day is today?”. I practically went pale after that sentence. Needless to say, we had to laugh about my mix-up. Boo, boo, BOO!!! At least we had a good practice run right?? Right??? Especially since we were 45 minutes late that evening.
Day two, things ran smoothly and we actually ran on time. Great show. We decided to donate this evenings proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club. How we made that decision? When I bought/surprised Giant the tickets online, I was given a long list of charities to donate to. I chose this charity is because somehow I felt like it often gets overlooked. I felt like most people will probably donate their proceeds to more popular charities like the Childrens Museum or Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Now there’s nothing wrong with giving to these charities. We just felt that the Boys and Girls Club may get overlooked a lot.

You see that train at the very bottom of my dress? I spent the entire evening stepping on it. 🙁

I get to wake up to this handsome man for the rest of my life...blessed...

Day one's hair and make-up from the fabulous Tran Nguyen

Day one's updo

Day two's updo. I had a particular look I had in mind for Day Two and my girlfriend Tran Nguyen nailed it!!!

I remember it like it was yesterday…
Such a life-changing book. My copy was bought for me by a friend as well, and it remains one of the most meaningful investments that has been made into my life and business. Thanks for sharing, Melissa!
