Have you ever been to Mexico? If you haven’t… you must! Land of spectacular all-inclusive resorts, turquoise water, and super smooth sand… I could have spent all day dragging Nisha and Sachin around the fabulous Azul Sensatori, but they might have literally melted like a Mexican mango popsicle, it was that hot.

You’d never know what a scorcher it was from these photos of their wedding day–Nisha and Sachin totally rocked it! They endured the heat, they looked stunning in their traditional ethnic outfits, and they truly had the time of their lives tying the knot in Cancun! Here are some shots of the behind-the-scenes.

About 50 of the couple’s closest family and friends made the trek to Mexico. The thing I love most about destination weddings (besides the fact that it satisfies my wanderlust) is that the guests who have traveled all that way are usually a super tight group. It’s practically guaranteed to be colorful, purely joyful, and FUN!

Throw into the mix some of the cutest, little ring bearers and flower girls around. Every time I asked them to say for the camera, “I love Nisha!” they screamed it out at the top of their lungs. I guess they love her.

Nisha’s hot pink dress is like next-level amazing and seriously caliente, don’t you agree?

And cue the dance party. Nisha was so serious about throwing an awesome party for her guests that she flew in a DJ she had her sight set on–she saw him at a wedding from Dallas!!!

I’ve shot five destination weddings–Cozumel, Bahamas, Tortola, St. Thomas, and now, thanks to Nisha and Sachin, Cancun! Europe, anyone?

Hope you enjoyed your honeymoon in Italy, Nisha and Sachin!

What are your plans this weekend? I’m going to try to catch up on sleep and relaxation after working two weddings back-to-back last weekend! Hope you have a good one, and here are a few fun pins from around the web . . .

Obviously not my own, but…. isn’t this the stuff that scary movies are made of? #Truth

This festive backdrop seems to be monopolizing the Pinterest DIY market.

A healthy mac n’ cheese, could it be?

Like a black and white cookie, but for your kitchen.

The chevron fashion trend takes on hardwood floors!

What I love most about South Asian weddings is how ornate the traditional costumes always are. There’s no two alike, trust me, I’ve done my fair share of Indian and Pakistani weddings! Take Asma here, a stunning Pakistani bride. She wed Zubair in a magnificent Hyderabadi gown in deep ruby and emerald green, and he in an understated yet princely wedding sherwani.

Asma’s ruby and pearl nose ring is called a nath, a traditional bridal ornament.

We did the bride-and-groom portraits in Busse Woods in Schaumburg. Ever a favorite location of mine to shoot at, I thought the natural starkness of the woods was a beautiful complement to their colorful and ornate costumes.

The reception was in Hoffman Estates. Though Pakistani weddings tend to be on the conservative side, they are nevertheless steeped in rich cultural traditions and brimming with deep respect for family.

It is customary for the bride’s family to “badger” the groom for money as he tries to pass through to the reception. They were diligently negotiating with Zubair for over five minutes, until someone tipped him off that there was another door leading to the reception room! Obviously, the groom (and his entourage) made a beeline for it. While I don’t know how much the bride’s family managed to make off with – Zubair, I think you were the big winner that night. And Asma, you are truly a kind and gentle soul, you radiated from the inside out! Readers, I hope you will enjoy a glimpse of their beautiful reception!
