Deepi and Eeshan-Wedding-1369

Our dull Thursday needs a bit of color and this pretty Sikh wedding is just what the doctor ordered. I had a tough time narrowing down the images for Deepi and Eeshan’s wedding post because there were so many beautiful details to capture, like the bride and groom’s intricate lehenga and sherwani in ruby red and gold, and helloooo, the cool, festive baraat where Eeshan makes his entrance on a decorated horse! The cool pastel pink hues of the bridal party’s outfits and the sheer warmth of these two’s smiles made the day picture perfect – and this wedding surely had all the elements of Bollywood! Of course, everyone always looks forward to scrolling ahead to see the wedding reception, but you won’t want to miss the in-between scenes from the vidaai, where the bride’s family sends her off just after the ceremony on a sweet powder blue moped. And omg – the couple’s cute little dog, Scruffy, makes an appearance.

Deepi’s wedding gown that she changed into for the reception is probably one of my favorites I have ever seen, in that it’s not your traditional white. She is stunning in a Jaamawar Minx blush ballgown with emerald bejeweled straps – perfectly fitting of a princess – and her groom in an impeccably tailored, slim grey suit. It’s all in the details! The venue Renaissance Schaumburg made for pretty pictures and was the perfect Bollywood dance party space.

p.s. If you missed Deepi and Eeshan’s engagement session, check it out here!

WOWZA! That’s probably the first thing that escaped your mouth, too, when you saw this unexpected bridal hairstyle, right? The fishtail braid that my beautiful bride-to-be, Deepi, is sporting is what Disney Princess dreams are made of – pretty much perfect for any special occasion like her sangeet, the big, crazy party BEFORE the actual wedding. Indians know how to party 😉 Ashyana Banquets in Downers Grove, Illinois provided the perfect location for said big, crazy party. Deepi and Eeshan also happen to be members of a professional, traditional Indian dance group called Ministry of Bhangra. Mind. Blown. Best Bollywood performances I’ve ever seen!

Orange and fuschia are going to be a perennial favorite here at Melissa Diep Photography, and this bride totally nailed the hues in her own way by contrasting it with a stunning emerald green and gold top. Add a strong, handsome groom on her arm, like Eeshan, making his own statement with a modern spin on a traditional sherwani coat. Matching a small element works well to pull together contrasting wedding outfits, like Deepi’s green border of her lehenga to the groom’s sherwani. Love Indian weddings and the color explosion associated with them! Deepi and Eeshan’s non-matchy matchy look is a color story perfection, and Deepi’s simple but colorful lehenga is proof that you don’t need to be drowning in an ocean of gold embroidery to look amazing. Scroll down to see all of their sangeet pictures… just wait till you see the wedding coming to the blog soon!

All the pastels and lush greenery make me feel like we’ve been transported to some charming Southern town, like, oh say, Charleston. Don’t be fooled – we didn’t have to go far for these simple but picturesque backdrops for Jamie and Mike’s engagement shoot. Just an hour away from Chicago is downtown Geneva, a quaint suburban town with historical architecture and unique shops with quirky details. This adorable yellow bike was parked outside one business and we couldn’t resist playing with it a little – made the best prop, right? Couldn’t have planned it better myself.

Jamie and Mike are the sweetest couple. I’m shooting their upcoming wedding, and it was fun to get to know this couple before the big day. They are both naturals for the camera and so easy to work with, and you can tell they have a lot of fun together. It was 100 degrees this day, but that didn’t stop them from looking cool and collected. Don’t they look like they’re just taking a stroll through the park, stopping for a little dance… just the beginning of a beautiful life journey…
