Archita and Ankit’s Colorful Garba at Swissotel Chicago, Part 1

Get excited, folks, I’m about to spice up your Monday night. The details in a traditional Indian affair always seem to stop me in my tracks and are truly a feast for the eyes lens. Friends and family gathered from all over to celebrate Archita and Ankit’s wedding week, which began with Archita’s Mehndi in her hometown in Kansas. Back at home in the city, the happy couple chose the modern Swissôtel Chicago as the site for their traditional Garba. From the bride’s intricate henna and her jewel-encrusted lehenga, the ornate statues of Krishna and the funny yet endearing skits roasting the groom as enacted by his brother, this fête had no shortage of details. (Oh, and can we swoon over that stunning emerald necklace for a second?!) Just like a multi-day Indian wedding, I’ll present the festivities in two separate posts, beginning with the Garba here. Trust me, you will want to indulge.
