What do photographers do when they want to get in front of the lens for a change? Collaborate with one of their very best peers!
After Roman turned one, we had our family session done by the talented Suzy from Simply by Suzy. It happened to be 40 degrees and super windy that day in November, but I had to wear my silk dress.
That’s hard-core love for your family, right?
We shot at a wooded area in Schaumburg, where the light was just magical and the natural fields a perfect backdrop for a dreamy, sumptuous settee from here. Luckily for me, Suzy and I met at a photography networking meetup awhile back. I think she’s just fabulous! She also did Roman’s newborn sesh and a Mommy and Me for us earlier this year. I wanted to work with one photographer for all our family’s first year photos to carry through a consistent style and vision.
Roman had a blast romping around the fields. Even though it was cold, he’s the best baby. He had a blast and warmed up to Suzy real quick. She managed to get all these lovely shots in under an hour!
Okay, who else LOOOOOVES the camera Suzy shoots with? It’s a Contax 645 film camera that produces the most amazing vintage-quality photos, and let’s just say that I’m not-so-secretly hoping Santa brings it to me this year.
