Hey, ya’ll! In the spirit of Texas, I thought I’d get into character and have a little fun with this post featuring Tiffany and Ly’s modern day cowboy-inspired shoot. After all, romping around a ranch––with a couple who also happens to be your best friends––was nothing short of a blazin’ good time! (This stunning couple look familiar? See here, here, and here.)

From Tiffany and Ly’s stomping grounds in Galveston, we road-tripped it over to Texas Ranch Life, two hours outside of Houston, where we spent the day exploring this world-renowned working ranch resort. Here this city gal (me!) enjoyed a change of pace shooting in the idyllic countryside, served up with a dose of fresh air. I love how Tiffany’s multi-tiered lace dress sweetens up rustic backdrops, and Ly’s “chic cowboy” style brings a touch of contemporary to what could have easily become a cliché shoot!

If you’re wondering why Ly can’t keep his hands off Tiffany, well, it’s not just because of her impossibly dainty waist . . .

And it’s about to get a bit bigger!!!

I’m thrilled that Tiffany and Ly invited me to make the announcement public on my blog. As their friend and photographer, I am doubly gratified to play a part in this wonderful time in their lives. Not to mention, this is a first for the blog––being the primary vehicle to spread news of this caliber! The happy couple couldn’t wait to share a few details with their friends and family:

Tiffany is 14 weeks!

It’s been an easy first trimester without any morning sickness! (You lucky girl, you!!!!)

They’re both hoping for a little girl! (One thing is for certain, and that’s that little TiffLy will be a baby fashionista or fashionisto!)

They want three children!

You heard it all here first, folks.

It’s no wonder Tiffany chose this gorgeous location to shoot this occasion––the happy couple plans to lay down roots in Houston with their growing, little family.

My advice? See how the first one goes. Congrats, guys!  🙂

Disclaimer: Folks, get ready for a gushy introduction.

Here goes . . . I loooved documenting every bit of Sareth and Brett’s big day . . . wandering around an eclectic mix of beautiful settings . . . getting to know a sweet couple unafraid to play a little and have some fun for my camera . . . exchanging vows around a stunning centerpiece fountain in the courtyard of a behemoth art institution. What’s not to love?

From the legendary Palmer House Hilton to the sweeping Grand Staircase in The Art Institute of Chicago, we set about to make memorable “Sareth and Brett moments!” As a photographer who was bred in (and breathes!) this city, I always love the undeniable tradition of classic Chicago spots, but was absolutely enamored by the whimsicality of a bride and groom portrait session in the very colorful and quirky Open Books bookstore. Here the literary-loving couple flirted a bit and “made eyes” at one another behind themed books such as “The Complete Book of Baby Names.” Hubba hubba, winky wink!

And not to be overshadowed, the wedding ceremony and reception was a breathtaking and serene alfresco affair in The McKinlock Courtyard at The Art Institute of Chicago . . . equally serene, on the inside and out, was the blushing Cambodian bride who shined in a Paloma Blanca gown and glittery Brian Atwood shoes.

Here’s a little peek of the entire day . . .

Sareth and Brett, thank you SO much for allowing me to work with you on your special day and having fun with poses––some of which may or may not have included standing on top of a table at the Palmer House, I won’t tell!

I want to eat him and those delicious baby cheeks!!! Okay, now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s move on. (I’m pretty sure that would be socially unacceptable, not to mention bad for business, right?)

Mateo is this gorgeous 9 and ½ month old baby, son to gorgeous Aki and Henna. Would it be safe to say that “gorgeous” is a trait, and that it runs in this family? Whatever happened to cook up this ‘lil looker must have had something to do with the blessed mix of genetics running around here––Aki is Croatian from the Adriatic Coast and Henna is a Chicago-born gal with Korean, German and Irish roots!

I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing this super sweet family when Henna won the most votes for her photo submission in April’s “Spring Me Into Happiness” contest. Henna and Aki did not have professional wedding photos when they were married three years ago, so this shoot had special meaning to their growing family!

The vision was a slice of classic Americana: a relaxed family picnic on the beach one lazy Sunday, served up with some fresh polka dots and seersucker just ripe for summer. And, are you not dying for Mateo’s suspenders over his nekkid, ‘lil belly? I had fun frolicking around Montrose Beach in Chicago capturing some beautiful moments between Henna and Aki. Little Mateo was sleepy––perfect for getting good shots of sweet baby “bedroom eyes!”

Thank you, Henna, Aki and Mateo for allowing me to play a part in this special time in your lives!
